CHAPTER ONE

"No!" Screamed Maria and Meg together as they watched the man they loved get shot and collapse on the floor in a pool of blood.

"Ben!" Screamed Maria, running towards her husband. Ben groaned in pain. She collapsed in front of him, tears pouring down her beautiful face.

"Don't move an inch!" Derek shouted, waving his gun around frantically. He laughed suddenly regaining his coolness.

His coldness.

"Bet'cha thought I wouldn't do it. I wouldn't kill my own flesh and blood. My own twin." He laughed.

Maria blocked out Derek's voice. She tore at her trousers and pressed the cloth tightly on Ben's wound. There was blood everywhere. So much blood, oozing out of his chest.

Escaping his body and killing him. Red merciless blood.

Ben's eyes were closing but he was breathing. She had to keep him alive. She took Ben's hand in hers and murmured comforting words to him. She rocked back and forth.

Blood everywhere.

On her hands.

Her clothes.

Her hair.

Her face.

Ben's blood. Ben's blood.

"Please don't leave me." She whispered and she kissed his hand. "Don't die."

Meg was speechless. She watched as Maria did her best not to let Ben die. She tugged at her chains that held her to the spot. Ben couldn't die. They had to get out of here and get him to the hospital. Everyone except Maria and Ben had been gagged and tied up, Jude, Annie, Sara and Casey. It was hopeless. Derek was too powerful. Tears poured down her pale cheeks.

"Ben!" She cried out, desperately.

"Quiet!" Derek shouted. "Just watch your precious Ben die." He walked about for a while keeping everyone in full sight. He loved seeing them suffering. He looked at Maria. She wasn't going to let Ben go without a fight. She was really desperate. Ben couldn't survive a gunshot like that. It was pointless.

Ben.

His twin.

The favorite twin. Ben could never do a thing wrong. He was the favorite son, the favorite little brother and evan the favorite student at school. But himself, that was a different story completely. He was a disappointment. The black sheep of the family. Ben was always brilliant at everything but Derek...

".... If only you could be more like your brother, Ben..." His mother would always say. He looked at Ben.

It wouldn't be long now.

Ben would die soon.
